Holly Richards, OD is originally from Houston, Texas. She attended The University of Texas at Dallas, where she was awarded the degree of Bachelor of Arts in biology. Dr. Richards (formerly Matthys) graduated in 2006 from The University of Houston College of Optometry, where she received distinction letters of excellence in clinical patient care.

Dr. Richards also received an award for her outstanding clinical grand rounds and new developments case report that focused on the rare effects on the retina, secondary to Lupus.

Dr. Richards is licensed as a therapeutic optometrist and an optometric glaucoma specialist by the Texas Optometry Board and National Board of Examiners in Optometry. She is an active member of the American Optometric Association, Texas Optometric Association, Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society, and The Central Texas Optometric Society.

Dr. Richards takes special interest in the treatment and management of ocular disease and emergencies, laser vision correction management, and vision correction with every type of contact lens. She also enjoys staying current on the latest trends and technologies within the eye care industry and incorporates many of these advances into her daily clinical practice.

Outside the clinic, she enjoys outdoor activities, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.




Dr. Timothy Wright - Dr. Wright grew up in Iowa, but moved to Texas as fast as he could. He graduated summa cum laude in 1982 from Iowa State University with a degree in Construction Engineering and graduated valedictorian from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1991.

Dr. Wright has special interest and expertise in contact lens fittings and management of ocular disease diagnosis and treatment. He has a strong following of patients who appreciate his great listening and accurate prescription skills.

When not in the office he enjoys adventure motorcycling and has traveled to Alaska, Newfoundland, and Guatemala. He also enjoys swimming laps at Deep Eddy and crafting wood-working projects in his workshop. He works at our Downtown office.









Dr. Emily Schottman - Our owner and founder is "Dr. Emily". Having worked in the Optometric industry since she was in high school, she has been licensed in Virginia, California and Texas. She graduated with honors from University of California, Santa Barbara and the Southern California College of Optometry. Named "1996 Young Alumni of the Year", she is well-known by her patients for her warm and responsive relationships with her patients.

She has a passion for Computer Eye Fatigue and specialty Pediatric cases. She has post-doctorate certification in Vision Therapy and Training, which is an exciting option for children and adults with visual issues that glasses, contacts and LASIK cannot fix.

You may make a specialty appointment with her by asking for a "Developmental Vision" exam at our Rosedale office.










Dr. Stephanie Colorado - Dr. Stephanie Colorado graduated with highest honors when she received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas at Austin. She then received her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry. She is currently licensed as a Therapeutic Optometrist and a Glaucoma Certified Specialist. She is also a participant in the InfantSEE program, which provides free eye exams to infants 6-12 months of age.

Dr. Colorado is an active member of the Texas Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and Central Texas Optometric Society. As an undergraduate student at UT-Austin, she played a key role in donation of more than 200 donated, free eye examinations to indigent
individuals enrolled in the Prevent Blindness Texas program in the greater Austin area.

Dr. Colorado's specialty clinics in Houston included Pre/Post Cataract and Pediatric Strabismus Surgery. She specializes in fitting computer fatigue spectacles, multifocal contact lenses, LASIK co-management and pediatric exams. Additionally, her concentrations include dry eye treatment and retinal pathology.

Outside of the office, Dr. Colorado enjoys spending time with her daughter, Marissa. They enjoy kayaking, canoeing, and hiking at the Barton Creek Greenbelt.





Austin Vistion Training TherapistDr. McMains received her Doctorate of Optometry at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, and concurrently received her Master of Education in Visual Function in Learning in 2000. She is specially trained in vision related learning disabilities, pediatric optometry, sports vision, acquired brain injury, strabismus, amblyopia, developmental delay and vision-vestibular disorders.

Earning recognition for her expertise by being accepted into the Beta Sigma Kappa International Honor Society and receiving the College of Optometrists in Vision Development Award for Excellence in Vision Therapy, Dr. McMains went on to study and earn her Fellowship by the College of Optometrists in Vision Development in 2006, board certifying in vision therapy and vision development.

Dr. McMains practiced for seven years in California, owning her own vision therapy practice in San Diego and working with several hospitals, OT clinics and sports teams before relocating to Spring, Texas in 2007 to be with her sister while she underwent cancer treatment. While in Spring, Dr. McMains was the Clinical Director of the Vision Learning Center of Champions from 2009-2011, a vision therapy practice that specialized in Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Strabismus, Amblyopia and vision related learning problems. Recently, Dr. McMains has made her permanent home in Austin, TX with her two children, Morgan and Ronin after being appointed the Clinical Director of the Stars in Your Eyes Vision Training Center in 2011 to double efforts with Dr. Schottman to fill the gap in Austin for Board Certified Developmental Optometrists and continue the mission of helping individuals reach their true potential by overcoming neuro-visual inefficiencies.
